Funmi’s Café is the place for authentic African food, great atmosphere, and good music. Founded by Yomi & Funmi Aderinokun in 2009, our goal is to give our customers a great dining experience through excellent service and exceptional food.
Although most of the items on our menu can truly be described as international, being from Nigeria has definitely left its mark on our food. Nigerian cuisine consists of dishes from hundreds of different ethnic groups that make up the West African nation of Nigeria. Like other West African cuisines, it uses spices and herbs in conjunction with different oils (palm, vegetable and ground nut oil) to create deeply-flavored sauces and soups often made very hot with chili peppers. The food delights available in Nigeria are as rich and varied as the culture and history of Nigeria’s people (and include many items that are vegan and vegetarian friendly :).
Nigerian feasts are colorful and lavish, while aromatic market and roadside snacks cooked on barbecues or fried in oil are plentiful and varied. This is an experience that we’ve tried to preserve at Funmi’s Café.
